[ARCHIVED] Public Safety Power Shutoff - Confirmed

Contra Costa County Emergency Services Picture

The City of Orinda has been preparing to respond to the impacts of a PG&E power shutoff event.  Find out what you can do now in Preparing for a Power Outage.

PG&E has now indicated that a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) will start as early as 12:00 a.m. midnight tonight, Wednesday, October 9th.  According to PG&E, complete power restoration may take one to five days after the weather subsides.

During the duration of the power shutoff, a City Care/Cooling/Resource Center will be set up at the Community Center, 28 Orinda Way, Room 8 between 8am-6pm every day. Room 8 will be powered by emergency generators.  It is planned to have charging stations and fans for cooling.  City staff will work to answer questions or help those with other needs.

Day-to-day City Office operations will be suspended during the shut-off.

Check www.pge.com for a current map and customer updates. For more information on preparing for power outages, visit the County's Safety & Emergency Info page.
