Parks & Facilities

To Our Orinda Parks and Rec Family:

Due to the latest Coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns here in Contra Costa County, Contra Costa Health Services has ordered a shelter-in-place for all community members within the county. On April 29, Contra Costa Health Services released an updated order which supersedes the initial order to shelter-in-place from March 31, 2020. The order will continue to be effective until 11:59 p.m. on May 31 2020, or until it is extended, rescinded, superseded, or amended in writing by the Health Officer.

Given this information, the City of Orinda has cancelled all facility reservations through May 31. Picnic tables, play structures, park restrooms, tennis courts, and Wilder Fields 1, 2, and 4 are closed.  In addition, City operations are limited therefore program transactions (including withdrawals, refunds, payments, etc.) are being processed steadily.

If you are inquiring about a reservation refund, please be advised that each permit is unique and staff will work with you as soon as possible. If you are interested in renting a sports facility, look at availability online prior to sending an email. As of right now, if a field and/or gym are available between June 1 and August 31, staff will do their best to provide a timely response to your request.

If you are contacting us regarding a reservation refund, please be advised that refunds will not be processed until City operations are back. If you are interested in renting a City facility, please click here. A Staff member will be in contact with you once the shelter-in-place order has been lifted.

We will do our best to update you as new information becomes available. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding. For the latest information, please go to

Protect Yourself When Visiting Parks and Recreational Facilities

Knowing how important physical activity is during this time of confinement, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) created a list of "Do’s" and "Don’ts" for park goers. In order to protect yourself and others from COVID-19, is important that you follow these steps in their Know Before You Go list. To review these steps, click here.
