Planning Department

The Planning Department provides professional and personalized service relative to the overall physical development of Orinda, consistent with the General Plan & Housing Element, adopted policies and guidelines. The Department is also responsible for managing all land use entitlements in accordance with the Subdivision Map Act, California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and State Planning and Zoning laws.

PLANNING DEPARTMENT APPOINTMENTS

  • Online (Zoom) Appointment - Best for questions that include review of project plans or documents.
  • Phone Appointment - For questions that don't include review of project plans or documents.
  • In-Person Appointment - For questions you would prefer to ask in person at City Hall.
  • In-Person Plan Check - For review and Planning approval of building permits. Do not submit your application online through the Application Submittal Portal if you schedule an appointment for in-person plan check.

APPLICATION SUBMITTAL

Applications shall be submitted online through the Application Submittal Portal hereSubmittals by email are not accepted. A limited number of in-person building permit plan checks are available by appointment only. Schedule an in-person plan check by clicking the "book now" button above.

Application Status - Submittals will be processed in the order they are received. In-person plan checks will be processed during your scheduled appointment. Building Permits & Inspections
