The contest was open to photographers of all ages and skill levels; entrants were separated into two divisions, Youth (17 years and younger) and Adult (18 years and older). There were a total of four photo categories and each entrant was able to submit one entry in all four categories if desired. The four categories were:
The esteemed panel of judges had an opportunity to review a total of 62 photos, and 6 of them were submitted into the youth category. The panel included Eve Phillips, Orinda Mayor, Clay Deanhardt, Chair of the Orinda Parks and Recreation Commission, and Rich Thompson, Chair of the Orinda Arts in Public Places Committee. The panel viewed the photos and were asked to rank their top 5 in each category. The photos with the most points were determined to be the winner. The top photos in each category were:
