Orinda Parks and Recreation, Lafayette Parks, Trails & Recreation, in addition to Moraga Parks and Recreation, have collaborated on the Lamorinda Trails Challenge starting May 1 through October 31, 2020.
This challenge invites you to explore your local trails while delivering a vast number of health benefits to your mind, body and soul. This program is free and designed for all ages and fitness levels. The best part about this challenge, other than exploring and finding new trails within your Lamorinda community, is the self-guided format that allows you to complete the challenge at your own pace. Please share your pictures with us on social media using #LamorindaTrails.
There are two ways to complete the challenge:
- Go the Distance - complete 26.2 miles on Lamorinda Trails
- Complete the Objectives - fulfill five of the eight objectives listed in the Trail Challenge Guidebook
The Trail Challenge guidebooks can be viewed below or downloaded from the content column on this page.
Upon completion of the challenge, submit your “Trails Completion Log” to your local Recreation Department. Once you submit the trails log, we will send you will receive a commemorative pin (while supplies last).
2020 Trail Challenge Kickoff!
Unfortunately, the 2020 Lamorinda Trails Kick-Off event scheduled for May 2 has been canceled due to the Covid-19 outbreak. However, we are excited to launch the 2020 Lamorinda Trails Challenge early this year and give our community a fun way to discover your local trails.
Due to coronavirus concern, many public facilities are closed, but our local trails are currently experiencing unprecedented use. Please stay healthy by using your trails and by following social distancing guidelines.
Although most trails are open, please visit East Bay Regional Park District and East Bay Municipal Utility District websites to check for potential trail closures and please heed to any posted signage. And please follow County, State, Federal, and CDC guidelines regarding social distancing and outdoor recreation.
