The City of Orinda is an Award of Excellence recipient for the Choose Your Own Adventure Summer Camp Guide, awarded by the California Parks and Recreation Society (CPRS) as a part of their Annual Awards program.
The stand-alone Summer Camp Guide shares information about City-run and contracted summer camps and that also included a new and improved summer camp schedule. The Choose Your Own Adventure camp guide allowed parents to view all camps for all ages in a week-by-week matrix. Parents searched by week and then found the appropriate age to choose their child’s adventure.
Since Staff received such positive feedback, the decision to submit the Choose Your Own Adventure Summer Camp to the California Parks and Recreation Society (CPRS) Annual Awards program in the Marketing and Communications category was an easy one. An application was submitted in the fall of 2016 and the department accepted the award during the the 2017 California Parks and Recreation Society (CPRS) State Conference and Expo at the end of February. Council-member Inga Miller and Parks and Recreation Director Todd Trimble attended the awards banquet and accepted the award on behalf of the City of Orinda.
The CPRS Awards program recognizes outstanding achievement in the ares of facility design, park planning, marketing and communication, and community improvement and programming through demonstrating the CREAM principals of resourcefulness, execution, accomplishment and alignment with the parks and recreation mission.
